Frequently asked questions about the tenant and applicant portal
What do I do if something is faulty in the living area?
In the event of damage to the living space, please inform the property management responsible for your residential complex immediately. You can either call them or visit them in person during office hours. Alternatively, you also have the option of submitting a damage report online via this website.
What should I do if I can't pay the rent?
Contact the dunning process department by phone or e-mail in good time or make an appointment directly with Ms. Wehmöller or Ms. Weppelmann. Together we always find a quick and good solution. You will find the contact details and the option to book an appointment online at the bottom of this page.
Am I insured as a tenant?
Studierendenwerk Münster is not liable for damage to residents’ property, even if this is caused by damage to the building, such as a burst water pipe. We therefore recommend that you take out private household contents insurance to cover damage caused by burglary, vandalism, fire or mains water, for example. You should also consider personal liability insurance, which covers the costs of damage you cause to third parties. Find out whether you are insured through your parents or whether you need your own insurance.
How can I terminate the tenancy?
You can terminate your tenancy at the latest by the third working day of a calendar month to the end of the month after next.
The following applies to shared flats: In this case, the departure of a tenant is only possible with the consent of Studierendenwerk Münster and requires that the remaining tenants propose a new tenant who is entitled to live in the flat.
Submit all documents in the original with a handwritten signature. You will find all further details on termination in your rental agreement. If you have any questions, you can contact the responsible clerk directly. You can find a template for the termination here on our website.
