Studying with child

How do I manage lectures, childcare and part-time work? How do I live up to the challenge of studying while also raising a child?

Come see us - you are not alone. There are a variety of offers from higher education institutions and independent organisations available to help you with successfully balancing the organisational and financial aspects. Whether it’s organising your studies, childcare options or concrete material/financial support and leisure activities: we will provide individual and needs-based guidance with exploring options and locating agents, and together we will work out solutions to handle childcare and uni.

We can advise you on the following topics:

  • Accommodation options for parents and children
  • Financial support for student parents (short- and long-term benefits, loans, credits and grants)
  • Childcare
  • Leisure activities
  • Parental leave, maternity leave, semester on leave
  • Organisation of studies
  • Further support services, contact persons, counselling services

  • Children's meal card

Are you a student who likes to share mealtimes with your children in our student canteens and bistros? Take advantage of our children’s meal card. It is valid for children up to the age of 14 who are accompanied by their student parents for a hot meal in one of our canteens or bistros. Each time you visit, your child or children will receive a child-sized portion free of charge. The children’s meal card is valid for one semester and can be renewed every semester. Please come to our Information Centre with the requested documents.

  • Offers for students with children

The everyday life of student parents often differs from that of fellow students. With our low-threshold leisure activities, student parents and their children not only have fun and relax, but also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with like-minded people.

The Studi Kids Café takes place regularly with cooperation partners such as the equal opportunities offices of Münster University and Münster University of Applied Sciences as well as the social departments of the AStA.

Our family tutor offers exciting activities every semester. Pack up your children and join in!

    Family tutor:

    Viktoria

    Hello dear ones!

I am Viktoria the family tutor. I am also a mum and enjoy studying education. For over a year now, I have been planning and organising events for student parents and their children. What do we do? Well, everything that a child’s heart desires and makes us parents happy. This includes handicrafts, barbecues, baking and swimming, but sharing experiences is also very important to us. We love music, we love dancing! There are big outings and small meetings. I would say there is something for everyone.

I look forward to meeting you 😉 You can reach me at [email protected] .
