The conceptual planning then began. Initial drafts for the new building were agreed with the City of M\u00fcnster. Due to urban planning concerns &#8211; particularly with regard to an originally planned seven-storey building &#8211; the plans were changed: instead of one large building, two smaller structures with the same total capacity of 190 residential units were created. The aim is to significantly improve the building&#8217;s energy efficiency and make use of subsidies &#8211; including from BAFA. <\/p><p>Planned measures:<\/p><ul><li>Roof renovation<\/li><li>Replacing the window hinges<\/li><li>Installation of a photovoltaic system to cover the base load<\/li><li>Examination of the fa\u00e7ade: Renovation was not pursued for economic reasons.<\/li><\/ul><p>The heating system will also be renewed. A central wood pellet system is planned for the new building, which will supply both buildings with heat in future. Despite the change of use, most of the walls of the former kiosk were retained. New walls made it possible to separate the planned two shared apartments. The passageway between the apartments and the former kiosk storage area was bricked up. The bathroom posed a greater difficulty: As the previous drainage was not found in the appropriate places, the entire floor had to be raised. Overall, the rough installation was completed in 2024. New window fronts and doors were installed in line with the latest energy standards.      <\/p><p>The new wash bar is currently being renovated alongside the new residential units. It is being created from an old storage room of the former kiosk. The room has been re-tiled and a platform built to make it easier to load and unload the machines. A total of five washing machines and three dryers are planned for use by students.
