Accident report
With your semester fee, you are automatically covered by statutory accident insurance (SGB). This cover includes normal accident risks, including commuting accidents. For students of the University of Münster, the Studierendenwerk takes care of accident recording and processing.
You are also insured against private accident risks. In the event of a private accident, you must request an additional form to report the incident. You can find more details on this in the accident report information sheet.
Procedure for reporting accidents
Once you have completed and signed the accident report, please send it immediately to the accident department of the Studierendenwerk Münster.
Please be sure to enclose proof of enrollment (semester certificate) for the period in which the accident occurred with your accident report. Alternatively, you can also submit a copy of your student ID.

How am I insured against accidents as a student?
As a student, you are automatically covered by statutory accident insurance through your semester contribution in accordance with the German Social Security Code (SGB VII). This insurance covers normal accident risks, including commuting accidents.
What should I do if I have had an accident?
If you have had an accident, please fill out the accident report for students and send it to the accident department of the Studierendenwerk Münster. You can reach them by calling 0251/83-79288 or sending an e-mail to unfallsachbearbeitung@stw-muenster.de.
What documents do I need to enclose with my accident report?
Be sure to enclose proof of enrollment (semester certificate) for the period in which the accident occurred with your accident report. Alternatively, you can also submit a copy of your student ID.
What do I have to consider in the event of a private accident?

How long will it take for my accident report to be processed?
The processing time may vary depending on the complexity of the accident and the completeness of the documents submitted. However, we will endeavor to process your accident report as quickly as possible.
What happens if I do not enclose the required documents?
The accident report cannot be processed if the required documents are missing. Make sure that you enclose either the certificate of enrollment or a copy of your student ID to ensure that your case is processed quickly.
