Successful handover of donations to the "More space for closeness" project

Susanne Garcia was able to hand over a total of €1,000 for the “More space for closeness” project from St. Franziskus Hospital to the head of neonatology, Dr. Meike Franssen, and head of nursing Christiane Heitmann (from left to right). “We are delighted with the donation,” they both emphasized at the handover. “Every euro helps us to equip the new premature baby ward with all the extras we want.”

The conversion of the ward is intended to create a calm and pleasant environment for parents and children, which has been proven to have a positive effect on their bonding, health and development. “It is particularly important that parents have the opportunity to build a bond with their child from the very first hours,” explains the doctor. “And this also means that the families are close to each other after birth, just like with healthy children.” To achieve this, the hospital currently has to improvise again and again in a very confined space. “But fortunately, that will soon change!” emphasizes Dr. Franssen. “We are looking forward to opening the new ward at the end of this year.”

The 1,000 euros were raised through donations from employees at the Christmas party and the staff meeting. We would therefore like to express our sincere thanks to all donors! A great result!
