“That’s why we opted for different seat heights for the new seating, among other things. There are benches, stools with high tables and, of course, new chairs and tables.” In addition, the paintwork was renewed and new partitions were erected to improve the appearance of the crockery return area. The head of department is very pleased with the result: “The new furniture is visually very appealing and has been well received by the students. It was also great that we were able to collect the old tables and chairs and sell them to a young company from Berlin. Of course, we are particularly pleased that the furniture will continue to be used in the interests of sustainability!”
Reopening of Bistro Pi

Bistro Pi celebrated its reopening at the beginning of October with a new floor, a new counter, new electrics and completely new furnishings in the kitchen and dining area. Since then, students have been able to enjoy sandwiches, hot and cold drinks, confectionery, fresh fruit and snacks on 25 seats. The project was financed together with the University of Münster.

In addition to the institutions already involved, such as Bistro Denkpause and the Mensas am Aasee and Bispinghof, Mensa am Ring and Mensa Da Vinci have now also become part of the project this year. The foodsharing helpers primarily save ready meals and side dishes such as pasta, rice and potatoes that have not been sold from the garbage can. The food is then passed on to designated distribution stations, such as the Fairteilbar in Münster. The international foodsharing movement is committed to the responsible use of resources and a sustainable food system. The primary aim is to avoid food waste altogether in the future.
